Eco Tours

Join us for a boat tour of Trinidad Harbor and
explore our unique ecology and history!

"Trinidad serves as the gateway to the California Coastal National Monument, where majestic sea stacks rise dramatically from the ocean. These striking formations are part of a vast network of over 20,000 rocks and small islands that line the California coast."

The Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria (Trinidad Rancheria) is located within the unceded territory of the Yurok people. The ancestral homelands of the Yurok people extend from Damnation Creek in the north, to Little River in the south, to the confluence of the Klamath and Trinity Rivers in the east, and to the Pacific Ocean horizon in the west.

Since time immemorial, the Trinidad Rancheria Tribal community has depended on the rich diversity of marine resources found within Rancheria lands and throughout the ancestral territory as part of their daily lives. Tribal Elders share memories of the subsistence harvest of crab (ko–’ses), salmon (ney-puey), smelt (hehl-kues-leg), mussels (pee-’eeh), and clams (chper-ger') along the rocky beaches within the Rancheria’s borders, and of engaging in prayer and ceremony at sacred grounds along the coastline

Trinidad Bay is part of the Trinidad Head Area of Special Biological Significance (ASBS), a designation that is intended to afford special protection to marine life through prohibition of waste discharges within the area. Trinidad Bay is known for its dense beds of bull kelp, which provide habitat and food for various marine species, creating diverse marine ecosystems and abundant marine life, including seabirds, marine mammals, and intertidal organisms.
