Long Range Transportation Plan &
Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

The Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria is undertaking a significant update to its Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). This plan will provide a multimodal transportation vision for the tribe's future over the next 20+ years. Additionally, the community is developing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, which will serve as a data-driven strategy to improve transportation safety for all users, ensuring safer roads and access for everyone in the community.

These efforts represent an important opportunity for the tribe to shape its own transportation future. The LRTP and  Comprehensive Safety Action Plan will allow the tribe to define its transportation priorities based on local needs, cultural values, and sustainability goals. By aligning transportation improvements with the tribe’s vision, these plans will help ensure that transportation systems not only serve the current needs of the community but also support future growth and development.

Key Aspects of the LRTP Update and Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

  • Multimodal Transportation Vision

The updated LRTP will reflect a vision for a well-connected transportation system that includes roads, public transit, pedestrian, and bicycle infrastructure. This will improve mobility within the community and enhance access to important services and opportunities for tribal members and visitors.

  • Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

The Safety Action Plan will be a data-driven strategy focused on identifying areas of safety concern and implementing targeted improvements. The goal is to create a safer environment for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and other transportation users, ensuring that safety is prioritized across all modes of travel.

  • Community Engagement

These plans are a chance for the tribe to collectively decide what the future of transportation will look like. Through engagement and consultation with community members, stakeholders, and transportation professionals, the tribe will ensure that the plans reflect the needs and aspirations of the people it serves.

  • Cultural and Environmental Sensitivity

The plans will also consider the tribe's cultural heritage and environmental impact in any transportation improvements. These elements are crucial in maintaining the tribe’s connection to its land and natural resources while improving infrastructure.

  • Long-Term Planning for Sustainability

The LRTP’s 20+ year horizon allows for the integration of long-term, sustainable transportation strategies. These will consider future challenges such as climate change, population growth, and economic development, ensuring that the transportation system remains resilient and adaptable to future needs.

Next Steps and Involvement

These plans are not just about improving infrastructure—they are about shaping the future of the community. The tribe has the opportunity to determine its transportation priorities and plan for the changes and improvements that will best serve its people and future generations.  By developing these plans together, the community can ensure that all voices are heard, creating a unified vision that aligns with the tribe’s values and needs. This process fosters collaboration and shared ownership of the transportation planning process. Improved Mobility and Safety: Through the implementation of both the LRTP and Comprehensive  Safety Action Plan, the community can expect improved mobility, accessibility, and safety, leading to a higher quality of life for tribal members.

The Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community invites community members, local stakeholders, and relevant agencies to participate in the planning process. Input from all involved will be critical to ensuring that the updated LRTP and Safety Action Plan reflect the true needs and desires of the tribe. Together, the community can develop a strategic and comprehensive approach to improving transportation systems, enhancing safety, and building a stronger future for all.

These plans are our opportunity to decide what we want our future to look like—so we can plan how to get there together.
