Tribal Emergency Response Team

The Trinidad Rancheria Tribal Council recommissioned the Community/Tribal Emergency Response Team in February 2025, to address the recognized risks posed by disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires, and floods. The CERT/TERT program, a nationwide initiative under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) empowers tribal community members to train in basic disaster response skills; including, fire safety, search and rescue, team organization, and emergency medical operations; improving the Tribe’s capacity to respond to emergencies.

CERT/TERT hopes to train Community and Tribal Employee volunteers in basic skills like firefighting, first aid, and search and rescue.  These skills help make the Trinidad Rancheria more prepared to respond to local emergencies.

By training with other CERT/TERT groups; and local area partners, we practice the cooperation and communication that supports our response to emergencies across a wider geographic area and highlights the benefits of mutual aid agreements.

Training and tabletop exercises provide team members the opportunity to prepare a response before facing a live emergency.
